Seniors and Parents:
FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
The FAFSA is an application that both students and parents will need to fill out in order to do a number of things:
1. It is a state graduation requirement
2. it must be filled for many schools to accept an application or to be eligible for scholarships.
3. it must be filled to see what financial assistance you are eligible to receieve.
The FAFSA is opening in December this year, I will be providing information concerning the FAFSA for students and parents in the upcoming weeks.
Mr. Cruson
Just a reminder that Wednesday, September 20th is a half day for students. As always, elementary will begin dismissing students for pick up at 10:45. This is always posted on our school calendar, the school website, listed on the lunch menu, and on the teacher's weekly planners that are sent home.
Illinois State Representative Patrick Windhorst visited this group of outstanding readers today. They all completed his Summer Reading Club by reading at least 8 books over the summer. They received a certificate, a coupon for free custard at Culver's, and a coupon for donuts from Krispy Kreme. We always enjoy when he comes to talk to our kids and recognize their achievements. The students who participated include: Dallas Glaser, Evelyn Mann, Logan Martin, Hazel Dobyns, Haidyn Dobyns, Jameson Drone, Jackson Drone, Asher Pierce, Jason Wollard, and Mason Wollard.
We are proud of these kids! Great work!
Mark your calendars, September 14th is picture day!
Did someone say they wanted a picture of the entire elementary? Challenge accepted! Getting 288 kids into one space long enough to get a picture was definitely that, but we did it! Happy Hawk Pride Friday from the elementary students and staff! I do think I have way more staff than what is in this picture. Don’t worry though, I will get them when they least expect it. 😉
Mrs. Jackson’s class ended our special color days with Favorite Color Day today! They made crayon crowns and a Favorite Color graph. Blue won!
Our 4th graders had a field trip today to the Ridgway Park for the conservation fair day. A big thanks to everyone that puts this event on! The kids always have a great time.
The first Friday of every month in elementary will be Hawk Pride Day! That means tomorrow, let’s all wear our navy blue and orange. We will be taking a group photo to show our school spirit. 💙🧡🤍
Ms. Bean and Mrs. Russell took two members of the yearbook staff to a workshop today. Pictured are Mrs Russell, Kindrie Streeter, and Tristyn Franks during a team building exercise.
They are ready to build our yearbook staff and get busy on this year’s book!
BETA Club sponsors Chelsea Sutton and Mariah Dennison applied for the IEA SCORE grant over the summer to help fund our service project Birthday Box Blessings. We have been awarded $1000 for start up costs. Anita Golden from the Gallatin County Summer Lunch program helped us by writing a recommendation letter. BETA president Ella Dennison made a video that was submitted also. Pictured: Association President Jennifer Bean, sponsors Chelsea Sutton and Mariah Dennison, Anita Golden, BETA members Ella Dennison and Isaac Walters. We hope to get fully underway with our service project by Oct. 1!

We are getting very close to school starting. I still have some parents that haven't registered their students. Tomorrow is the deadline! Please go to gallatincusd7.com and click register returning students. If you have any trouble, call the school or come to the office and someone can help you. All new kindergarten, pre-k students, and move in students will need a birth certificate on file before you can start.
