It is highly recommended that you come on these nights and get your FAFSA finished, remember it is a graduation requirement.
Parents & Students
October 1st is approaching and with that, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be opening for completion. The FAFSA is the documention that provides your student with the means to obtain financial aid for college. In addition it is required in the state of Illinois as a graduation requirement. There are some documents that you need in order to complete the FAFSA, you will also need a PIN- ID number that both you and your student will need to get before you can complete your FAFSA.
This year we are fortunate that the financial aid department from SIC will be available to assist the completion of the FAFSA at our high school. On October 5th & 6th from 3:30 until 7:30 SIC will be in the high school library computer lab to assist with the FAFSA. I would highly recommend being here on one of those evenings, to complete FAFSA. Due to social distancing, an appointment must be made to be here on one of those evenings as to limit the number of people we have in the building. We will not be accepting walk ins.
PIN INFORMATION:
Parent/Guardians & Students will both first need a FAFSA ID- to obtain your ID go to:
www.StudentAid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Please call or email Mr. Cruson at the high school to set up an appointment time.

Jr. High - Cross Country, Softball and Baseball
High School- Volleyball, Cross Country, and Golf.
Seniors and Parents of Seniors - On October 1st the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open. Here are a few points that are important to remember regarding the FAFSA and the financial aid process.
1. IT IS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS. – The state requires that all 12th grade students complete a FAFSA in order to meet a requirement for graduation
2. Most colleges and universities require a FAFSA to be filed as a condition of acceptance to the school and can have impact upon on scholarships that the school may provide.
3. The process for filing is much simpler, than most people fear.
4. What if you don’t plan on going to college? Filing a FAFSA does not mean you have to go to college, so it will not hurt to file. However, if you do not file a FAFSA, there is a FAFSA Non-Participation form that must be filled out and placed on file at the school in order for you to meet your graduation requirements.
In order to file your FAFSA, you and your Parent/Guardians will both first need and FAFSA ID- to obtain your ID go to:
www.StudentAid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Once you have your ID, you can go to the FAFSA – which is located at:
www.fafsa.gov
The completion of the FAFSA is what is used to determine how much financial aid you will be eligible to receive next year in college. The FAFSA must be completed each year you are in college. (A tip) Some of the financial aid benefits are also based on timing; meaning the sooner you complete your FAFSA, you could be eligible for more benefits as some grant money is assigned to those that get their forms in the quickest.
I have included a short (25min) video from our local Illinois Student Assistance Commission representative regarding the financial aid process- it is worth the look for you and your parents, as it answers many questions.
